We're constantly exploring ways to bring people together, and to facilitate experiences and opportunities within the community. We do this by co-creating community collaborations; making useful connections, and highlighting activities from our network.

The general gist is to find a theme that inspires us and the community; invite people to co-create a series of activities on that theme; and then work together to develop and promote them. It's a fun way to get creative and broaden horizons.

For three years running we've co-organised an eclectic series of events to celebrate and explore Dalston's African connections around Africa Day on May 25th.

The events have reached over 1,000 people, and thousands more thanks to our brilliant media supporters including The Voice, Hackney Citizen, Worldwide FMResonance FM and Timeout

An event series spread over the course of the Rio Olympics to celebrate international sport and culture as universal languages.

Highlights included a Festa Brasiliera, a celebration of the refugee team, a Mohammad Ali Tribute night, a road-race weekend and a night of music and sport from every continent.

An epic weekend of collective action, with contributions from over 50 independent local organisations spread over one weekend and 4 floors of The Hive's unique social space.

BBC Radio 4 joined hundreds of visitors for this spectacularly free festival, with transformations to the The Hive going way beyond the weekend.

Over several years of getting to know the local community and organisations, we've gathered an uncommon understanding of who's doing what, how, why and the rest. This puts us in a good position to make positive connections between people and projects. For example, we work closely with Urban MBA to help give their street entrepreneurs venues, collaborators, exposure and funding for their projects.

If you're looking for someone or something to help you do more for the community, just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Our network features over 1,000 people and organisations interested in opportunities to express their passions and values with the community in mind. Hackney Roots helps by making connections on request, especially within our growing list of Hackney social enterprises, with everything from jazz clubs to coding clubs.

To join the network or if you're looking for a local connection, follow us on Twitter or get in touch.
